Saint Sebastian in LGBTQ+ style

The artwork ‘Saint Sebastian in LGBTQ+ Style’ is a contemporary version of the project ‘Saint Sebastian and the Birds’.

Just like Saint Sebastian, who was not allowed to be a Christian in Roman days, people with LGBTQ preferences are perceived to be a threat to certain political regimes or religions. Consequently they keep their sexual nature a secret, or they show their real nature and risk hatred, intolerance and violence.

The artwork consists of six Saint Sebastian statuettes. The body of each statuette is pierced with little arrows, each in a typical colour from the LGBTQ+ flag. The colours are repeated in fine lines on the plinth.
